Highlights

When a person discovers parts of their identity later in life, they have often lived a life where they had to suppress their authentic traits to fit into mainstream society. Autistic and ADHD people are often shamed for their neurodivergent traits, which can feel heavy after a while. As a neurodivergent therapist, I use my compassion, connection, and lived experience to help my clients honor and appreciate their authentic self. Human connection is much more valuable than any therapeutic intervention.

Experience

Claire Eggleston, LMFT-Associate, has been a psychotherapist since 2018 and an advocate for most of her life. She has provided therapy to individuals, couples, and families. Claire has worked in multiple settings, including agencies, schools, and private practice. These experiences allowed her to recognize the systemic injustice within the mental health system and use her advocacy experience to support marginalized communities.

In 2020, she opened her own teletherapy private practice, Authentic Connections. Claire is a neurodivergent therapist and specializes in and centers on the lived experiences of autistic and ADHD young adults, many of whom are also in the queer and disability communities. She prioritizes social justice and intertwines community care into her everyday work with clients. Claire also draws on her lived and clinical experience with chronic illnesses and physical disabilities to educate others on the mental health impact of living in society while being disabled and managing chronic health issues.

Claire has received and continues to seek out training in neurodiversity, trauma, anti-racism, and anti-oppressive therapy practices from experts with lived experience.

Education

Claire received her bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies and her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University.
