Hmm. On 13th August Redirect Detective encountered a problem with the partially obscured URL which DaveC provides! A 28 month old article is not a good place to recruit people to email Redirect Detective and ask them to post their report here. Perhaps Emsisoft will be able to coax them to post their information here?

Enter the URL below

If you are installing something and cannot even read what the checkbox in the installer says then no amount of protection is going to help you against PUPs.

Malwarebytes has partnered with ADW, the anti adware program. I have the paid version of Emsisoft and love it. I admit, that when I run the standalone version of ADW it finds PUPs not picked up by Emsisoft. However, Emsisoft finds another type of PUP called PUM, something that I am going to research.

I am using Windows 7 operating system and looking for best antivirus for Windows 7.

For them to give me to very good programs that protect my system for free, it’s worth taking the extra time to make sure I uncheck everything I don’t want. When and if that changes and they start hiding things or making it very hard to find the settings to uncheck these things, well, then it will be time find some one else.

That’s why I recommend use of paid antivirus software only.

As seen above some of these PUPs could almost be seen as malware, and people too easily read over those extra pages in an installer and just click ‘next’. I’ve had it running for a while, and it is quite thorough. It certainly helped keeping PUP installs to a minimum for people that are less tech savvy as well.

Blindly pressing ‘Next’ is what created this mess in the first place.

Now a days antivirus are supporting data recovery software as well. I have recently used Protegent 360 complete security software.

The reason why the Antivirus industry is doing this is because they need to monetize indirectly, as nobody wants to spend money on his/her protection…
